Scope and Description of Project (What)        
Text Box: This project continues the incremental restoration work of the County's courtrooms.  The work entails the complete refurbishing of wall, floor and ceiling surfaces as well as the associated courtroom seating, tables, judges bench areas, and jury areas.  Projects also provide updating of the courtroom safety, lighting, sound systems, technology wiring, traffic flows and accessibility issues.  In addition to the courtrooms, the condition and usability of the auxiliary support staff offices, chambers, conference rooms and libraries are addressed.
               
               
               
               
               
               
Justification of Project (Why)          
Text Box: In the early 1980's the County undertook a project to completely re-do the Courthouse exterior wall stone panels and surfaces.  This is a continuation of the County's commitment to extend the facility's useful life and appearance for residents and staff.  The project also attempts to make the courtrooms accessible to all persons.

Impact of not accepting project          
Text Box: Potential deterioration of the courtroom spaces, associated relics and amenities.  Accessibility to all visitors and jurors may be limited.  Safety concerns of staff and judges would not be addressed.  Finally, the image of Racine County government may be lowered in the eyes of the public.
