The Emergency Management Office is a planning and coordinating agency. Our primary function is to develop comprehensive all-hazard plans for Racine County. Hazards can be broken down into three categories: natural, technological and civil defense. The office provides 24/7 response capability and serves as a centralized communications and warning center to monitor, track and advise emergency authorities and the public of impending or actual emergency situations. Emergency Management activities include planning, training, exercising, response and public awareness.
Prepare the community to effectively respond to and survive both natural and man-made disasters.
Maintain and update the Racine County Emergency Operations Plan, Hazardous Materials Plan, Heat Plan, and Dispatch Dissemination forms, as well as other specific plans and checklists.
Continue to conduct Public Awareness Campaigns including tornado, winter, chemical, family preparedness, and heat awareness.
Respond to emergency situations as necessary.
Implement Project Impact in Racine County.
Prepare a Terrorism Response Plan for FFY 2000 - 2001.
Made more than 16 Emergency Management-related presentations to schools, community groups and the public (as of 5/31/00).
Conducted three Tornado Awareness & Spotter Seminars.
Hosted a Tornado Saferoom Community Chat.
Presented a Hazmat Awareness Overview for twelve RCSD In-services.
Assessed ALL Racine County Schools (public and private), Next Generation Now, Racine Zoo, County School building, Western Racine County Service Center & Racine County Service Center for tornado shelter.
Sponsored a Project Impact Safety Day Fair on May 20th at Regency Mall.
Sponsored Project DUI, a drunk driving re-enactment.
