Each County by statute must operate a County jail for the housing of all pre-trial detainees and those sentenced to the County jails by the court system. The Sheriff, an elected constitutional officer, has the statutory duty to perform the operation of the County jail.
Jail staff are responsible for receiving and caring for the well being of all persons brought into their charge. This includes the inmates' medical, religious, and educational needs.
Operate the county jail as a secure, safe, and efficiently run facility.
Seek revenue sources to help reduce operating expenses.
Continue with the automation of jail operations and records functions.
Secured funds for the continuation of the AODA In-house Rehabilitation program.
Continued implementation of a new Jail Management program as a part of the overall LEAP project.
