OPERATING AUTHORITY AND PURPOSE

The Planning and Development Director is also the Land Information Officer, responsible by State Statute for modernizing all land records in Racine County. 

The purpose of the Land Information Office is to design an automated mapping and land information system to ensure economic and efficient use through ready entry, retrieval, and exchange of data by and between the various users and to implement this system in Racine County over time.

OBJECTIVES

Create a system consisting of the following five basic elements:

  1. Geodetic reference framework;

  2. Large-scale planimetric and topographic base maps;

  3. Overlays, including cadastral boundaries and boundaries of various cultural and natural areas;

  4. Identifiers, including parcel numbers and codes associated with various cultural and natural areas;

  5. Nonspatial land information files, including cadastral parcel records and various cultural and natural resource data.

Facilitate applications by Racine County and its local municipalities for State grants to implement the automated mapping and land information system. 

PRIOR YEAR ACHIEVEMENTS

Completed automated cadastral mapping of the Towns of Mount Pleasant and Caledonia and the Villages of Sturtevant, Elmwood Park, Wind Point, and North Bay.

Entered into contracts and began cadastral mapping of the Towns of Yorkville, Dover, Waterford, Rochester, and Burlington, the Villages of Union Grove, Rochester, and Waterford, and the City of Burlington.

Entered into contracts and began planimetric and topographic mapping in Mount Pleasant, Caledonia, Sturtevant, Wind Point, North Bay, and Elmwood Park.
