OPERATING AUTHORITY AND PURPOSE

Mail services are provided for all County departments located in the Courthouse, Law Enforcement Center, Ives Grove Complex, Child Support office, County Board Office, and Ridgewood Care Center. These services include sorting, routing and/or delivery of 1st class mail as well as inter-office mail.

Printing services are also provided for all the above locations and the Taylor Avenue building. Printed materials include letterhead, envelopes, newsletters, brochures, reports, annual budgets, informational booklets, directories, and more than 2,500 different forms used by various County departments.

The Print Shop Division is responsible for implementing the postal updates and taking advantage of the USPS cost saving alternatives.

OBJECTIVES

Implement technology changes whereby user departments receive more efficient services with faster turn-around.

Increase productivity and turn-around of product delivery from 7 to 3 work days.

Increase connectivity of user departments to high speed copying services for forms, reports and other printed materials.

PRIOR YEAR ACHIEVEMENTS

Contracted with a mail courier service to pick-up and deliver incoming mail from the Post Office thereby reducing labor costs by 32% annually.

Enhanced the tracking of mail costs by department to better determine the high-users for mail services and
to properly classify the true postage cost by department.
