OPERATING AUTHORITY AND PURPOSE

Ridgewood Care Center is a 210 bed skilled nursing facility licensed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services to participate in the Medicaid and Medicare Programs.

 EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Accomplished Goals

•  Bad debt has been reduced to 11.7 % of accounts receivable, a reduction of 15.6% over the prior year.

•  Maintained an average daily census of 207 residents and an average daily Medicare census of 16.

•  Part-time nurse aide turnover was reduced from 67% to 35 % with the 2002 trend of 22%. Overtime expense has been reduced by 7.56 % as compared to 2001.

•  Increased transportation charges, thereby increasing revenue 114% and covering the cost of the transportation cost center.
  
  Ongoing Goals

•  The County Board has not provided any directives relative to the Keefe report, so implementation has been deferred.

•  Presently a medical supply vendor is being selected to assist with Medicare B billing and supply inventory and control.
   

2003 GOALS AND BUDGET STRATEGIES

•  Maintain an average daily census of 208 with at least 16 Medicare.
•  Continue to contract dietary and laundry positions through attrition.
•  Increase revenue by $24,000 through billing Medicare B supplies.
•  Maintain overtime expense as a result of improved employee attendance and reduced nurse aide turn-over.
•  Reduce maintenance budget by 2.1% through improved planned maintenance and responsible replacement.
•  Select and install a functional nurse call system throughout the facility.
