OPERATING AUTHORITY AND PURPOSE

Ridgewood Care Center is a 210 bed skilled nursing facility licensed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services to participate in the Medicaid and Medicare Programs.

EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE MEASURES

Accomplished Goals

Nurse call system has been installed and upgraded to enhance communication with residents and caregivers. 

Over-time expense has been stabilized despite numerous nursing vacancies. 

Development of a plan to enable the Sheriff’s department to do a significant portion of the Ridgewood laundry, potentially eliminating 3 FTE’s. 

Maintenance operating budget (excluding wages) was reduced by 6.3% as a result of improved planned maintenance. 

Medicare census (year-to-date average) is higher than budgeted at 20 residents per day. 

Ongoing goals

An architectural study has been implemented to examine the costs of some needed building and systems enhancements. 

Continue to explore increased Medicare B revenues through billing supplies.

2004 GOALS AND BUDGET STRATEGIES

bulletContinue to contract dietary positions through attrition and explore a contract service to manage and staff the dietary department.
 
bulletFinalize architectural plans and begin implementation.
 
bulletTransfer and admit to Ridgewood ten appropriate Chronic Mentally Ill clients who are currently residing in Institutes for Mental Disease in other Counties.
 
bulletContinue to explore further consolidation of laundry services with the Racine County Jail.
